Feasting Frenzy: When the Scavengyre attacks a creature that is already wounded and below half of its maximum hit points, it gains a +2 bonus to hit and damage.
Scavenger Instincts: The Scavengyre can smell and track the scent of rotting flesh from up to 1 mile away.
Gnawing Bite: If the Scavengyre successfully hits a target with its bite attack, it can choose to latch onto the target's limb, dealing an additional 1d4 damage each round until the target shakes it off (requiring a successful Strength check).
Carrion Feast: The Scavengyre can subsist on rotting flesh and will not attack living creatures unless they are wounded and weakened.
Description:
Scavengyres are vile, scavenging beasts that roam the wastelands and desolate areas of the world. They have the body of a hyena, but the head and wings of a vulture, with sharp talons on their feet and a powerful, crushing bite. Scavengyres are attracted to the scent of death and decay, and will often gather in large numbers to feast on the remains of fallen creatures. They are known to be particularly aggressive when feeding and will attack anything that threatens their meal. The Scavengyre’s cackling call is terrifying to even the most jaded explorer.
